Terms &
Conditions

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is produced by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor who is a member of a government-approved accreditation scheme. Rushcliffe EPC is accredited through Elmhurst Energy.


The assessor must:

  • Demonstrate competence through recognised training and assessment

  • Maintain professional indemnity insurance

  • Follow all standards and codes of conduct set by the accreditation scheme

 

An EPC is only valid once lodged on the official government EPC register.

Parties in the Agreement

  • Domestic Energy Assessor shall mean the sole trader, John Stevenson of Rushcliffe EPC, 9 Flawforth Avenue, Ruddington, Nottingham, NG11 6LH.

  • Client shall mean the individual person or corporate entity that engages the Domestic Energy Assessor to provide EPCs either on their own behalf or on behalf of an identified third party subject to these terms of business.

  • Agreement shall mean the contracted engagement by the Client of the services offered by the Domestic Energy Assessor pertaining to the provision of EPCs subject to these terms and conditions.

Scope of the Report

  • The EPC certificate will provide:

  • Energy rating and score (Properties can be let if they have an energy rating from A to E).

  • Breakdown of the property’s energy performance

  • Estimate of energy required to heat the property

  • Impact on the environment, including an estimate of carbon emission figures.

  • Steps you could take to save energy

Client responsibilities

  •  EPC Validity: The client confirms they have checked for an existing EPC and require a new one either because the existing one has expired or because the existing building fabric or services have been improved since the last survey.

Inspection Details

  • Rushcliffe EPC will need access to:

  • Access to the front, side and rear exterior to photograph the building

  • All rooms in the property

  • Heating systems, thermostats, programmers and other controls

  • Hot water cylinder, if present

  • Loft space (to measure insulation thickness)

  • Electricity and gas meter, if present

  • Written or photographic evidence of any retro-fitted energy saving measures e.g. solar systems or wall insulation

  • Written evidence of extensions, with completion dates

 

Note:

The inspection is visual and non-invasive. The assessor will not:

  • Move furniture or stored items

  • Lift carpets, floorboards or coverings

  • Remove panels or fittings

  • Access unsafe loft spaces or use client-supplied ladders

  • Loft access uses the assessor’s ladder or fixed loft ladder only where safe to do so.

Timelines and Delivery

  • Rushcliffe EPC will deliver the EPC via email, providing a link to the Find an energy certificate website.

  • Delivery of the EPC Certificate will be agreed by both parties at the time of booking the EPC survey.

Payment

  • Invoices are due on issue. No payment terms are offered unless explicitly agreed at the time of booking the EPC survey. 

  • Interest will be charged at 10% per 30 days if payment is not made from seven days from the date of the invoice.
